What are your duties?
“I manage all financial aspects of The Chill Brothers; from the cash flow to the financial reporting to financial planning. On top of that, I spend a lot of time with the CEO, COO and the board of directors of the company to develop an overall strategy to grow the company and grow the earnings.”
How did you get started in your career?
“I didn’t always have aspirations to go and become an accountant or finance professional. But as I started my undergraduate program at University of Texas at Austin, I visited with several mentors and wanted to make an impact at any company that I work for. So as I spoke with the mentors, they guided me to investigate further on what a controller or CFO would do at a potential company and I ended up on that route. I graduated from the University of Texas, got my CPA and then started working as a controller at a health care company and then developed into my first CFO role in 2005.”
What has been the most important thing you have learned in your career?
“The single most important thing, you know, is that the environment is always changing at work. So I would say be adaptive to a dynamic work environment.”
What do you enjoy most about The Chill Brothers?
“The thing I enjoy most about The Chill Brothers is the culture here. It’s a market driven culture that focuses on growth of the company as well as rewards its employees for doing a great job.”
How would you describe your career in one word?
“The one word to describe my career would be dynamic.”
What are some of your goals you wish to accomplish?
“One thing I want to accomplish with The Chill Brothers would be to increase cash flow velocity, make data more real time as opposed to delayed, which will benefit operations all around. The third thing would be to link finance to operations.”
What makes The Chill Brothers different?
“It’s the employees. Everybody I have visited here at the company has a drive passion, who really understands their roles. They are very professional and when you look at the sales and operations team, the sales program here is unlike any other. The sales and operations go above and beyond to make sure the customer is 100% satisfied.”
What do you do in your free time?
“I spend a lot of time with my friends and family. I enjoy watching sports, mainly college and pro football. I play golf quite a bit and also go to the gym.”
As CFO, how do you handle challenges in the work place/ How do you manage your extensive tasks?
“As far as challenges, the main thing is not to panic or get stressed out and try to find a solution. I sit back, and think about what the challenge is, what the solution would be potentially and even involve my team members to help find the solution. For extensive tasks, I think about what drives value for the company. So I prioritize my tasks based on what is going to create the most value for the company.”
What is a fun fact about you?
“A fun fact about me is that I was actually on the University of Texas bowling team for two years.”
