How to Prepare Your HVAC System for Spring in 2024

Prepare Your HVAC System for Spring with Expert Tips! Ensure Efficient Cooling, Comfort, and Energy Savings. Get Ready Today!
It is time to say goodbye to Winter and hello to Spring! As the seasons are changing, you will want to make sure your HVAC system is prepared for the switch. It is important to take precautions when the seasons change to ensure that your system can work at its highest potential! Here are somethings you can do to prepare you HVAC system for Spring:

Remove Any Covers

During Winter, some people choose to cover the outside condenser. Before Spring begins, you will want to make sure nothing is covering it. Once you remove any coverings, it is recommended to do an inspection to see if there are any exterior damages.

Aside from damages, you will want to move any loose debris such as leaves or branches as they could create a blockage preventing the system from being efficient.

Change Air Filter

The air filters should be changed regularly. The air filter is in charge of collecting dust and debris from entering the air you breathe. Especially during Spring, there will be lots of pollen and other allergen particles that can travel into the HVAC system and get blocked by the air filter. Even when the seasons change, it is important to replace the filters to ensure that the air in your home is clean.

If you are experiencing allergies or any other illnesses, it may be because of your air quality. When you don’t regularly change the air filter, it will not catch as much debris as it’s supposed to and it can make the air you breathe full of particles. Here at The Chill Brothers, we offer many solutions for air purification including Air Scrubbers, UV lights and Air Cleaners. Call us today for cleaner, healthier air!

Cleaning

Along with cleaning the air filter, you will want to clean the supply vents and registers. It has the same concept as the air filters, when the vents get backed up with debris such as dust and pet hair, it will prevent the correct amount of airflow from entering your home. You can take a mini vacuum and suck all the debris from the vents and registers.

When cleaning the vents, you think that your ducts may be dirty as well. In some cases the ducts collect some sort of debris. At The Chill Brothers, we offer duct sanitization to ensure the cleanest air possible for your home.

Test the Thermostat

The thermostat is very crucial when it comes to preparing your system for Spring. After Winter, the thermostat will need to be reset and prepared to cool, rather than heat. If your thermostat is outdated, or disrupted, you may need to upgrade to a smart thermostat. Contact the professionals at The Chill Brothers for all your smart thermostat needs!

Turn on the System

After you check everything involving the system, it is time to turn on the system. You will want to make sure you feel cool air flowing all throughout the home. If the air is flowing, but it is not cool, you will need to shut off the system and call the professionals. There could be many things that could be causing this such as refrigerant, coils and more.

Get a Tune-Up

You could do all the things listed above to ensure your system is ready for Spring, or you could schedule a tune-up where our technicians will do it for you! They will conduct a 21 point inspection to see any errors or damages that your system will have. Not only will they get your system ready, but you will also get priority service as well as many more benefits. We offer our Chill Preventative Maintenance Plan.
